Frequently Asked Questions
Opening Hours
We are open every week Thursday to Sunday 10-4
We are a seasonal cafe: We operate February to December and close for a little rest in January.
Do we do events and private hire?
Yes! We do all sorts of catering from big weddings to small suppers, both offsite and at the cafe. Email events@baern.co.uk for more information.
Do we offer gluten free?
We always offer a gluten free lunch option (this might mean tweaking a dish so just ask) and we have gluten free sweets. We don’t make GF bread or pastry, and we cannot ever guarantee our food is 100% gf as our kitchen is small and flour gets everywhere.
What flour do we use in our House Loaf?
We use a mixture of Rye & Landrace from Scotland the Bread grown here on Balcaskie Estate, and white from Mungoswells in East Lothian.
Do we allow dogs?
We cannot allow dogs inside the cafe as we have bread on open shelves and an open kitchen. They’re more than welcome in the courtyard where we can serve our whole menu. We also have a dog park on site at the Bowhouse, and water bowls in the courtyard.
Do you have accessible loos?
Yes!
Are you open for dinner?
Our dinners are seasonal and run in Spring, Summer & Winter. Dates are announced on Instagram. For bookings email reservations@baern.co.uk
