Baern was opened in 2022 by Hazel Powell & Giacomo Pesce, based on a love of eating together, cooking, foraging and having a good time. Baern is a community space for a great meal, pastry, glass of wine, good cup of coffee, and a loaf of bread.
Sustainability
We take being a sustainable business very seriously.
We create a tiny amount of food waste, less than 1kg per day. We do this by preserving every part of every animal and vegetable we get in the kitchen. We turn vegetable scraps into drinks, powders & ferments. We make our own stocks, pickles, vinegars and hot sauces. Anything we really can’t use we send back to East Neuk Market Garden as compost.
Our menus are based on what’s seasonal and local. It does mean things can be a bit turnip heavy at some points of the year but we love the challenge and the tiny food miles.
All our packaging is either recyclable or compostable.
